This series is all about digging through the digital stacks over at Archive.org - the designer's version of a hip-hop head digging through the crates at a mom and pop record shop! The end result is less of a remix and more of a remastering, though it still was a valuable exercise in vector drawing in Illustrator. These particular examples come from the Franklin Type Company's Convenient Book of Specimens (1889). It is amazing how these designs still look cool and even relevant today. Their specimen books are fantastic (as are the many of foundries scooped up by the American Type Foundry) and I highly reccomend checking them out if you are feeling nostalgic, or just craving some good inspiration!
