Volunteer Cecil is a new community initiative from the Cecil County (MD) Senior Services & Community Transit. They hired me (at the time working under the Scott & Liss Design Co. moniker) to create a logo for the program. The logo needed to be clean and corporate-friendly – something that would fit in with other county government and NGO marks. It also needed to convey a message of diversity and community cooperation, and it was decided that final delivery should include a symbol and logotype that could operate in unison as well as independently of one another. The final product features four ‘people’ with outstretched arms, each of a different color. Their arms make a ‘V’ and a ‘C’ repeating around the circle, something we hope with add some subconscious unity to the logo. The logotype is made from two different weights of the playful sans-serif Core Rhino. The amazing team at SSCT loved the logo, and are working very hard to help the people of Cecil County.
